Our thanks to the local merchants who have supported OMNVA–first, on June 21st, Artisan Wine Depot owner, Christine Tran, offered OMVNA residents a mixer including a wine tasting extravaganza– ten unique regional wines to taste and compare–and a dinner of excellent Spanish paella from Chef Hector Figueroa–using an authentic recipe from his family and community from before the Middle Ages, passed down from generation to generation in Spain, with traditional ingredients (special rice and saffron). Christine selected wines from Argentina, Chile, Italy, Spain, and several from California and Washington State, and discussed the composition and special features of each wine. The paella was not only delicious, but paired with Christine’s wine selections, was a special treat.
Second, thanks to Tied House owner, Ron Manabe, who provided free beer for our first OMNVAFEST block party at Loreto and Bush. Residents brought a dish to pass, and there was music by Charlie Dupre, a local postman and Elvis impersonator, and by a neighborhood band –Rocky & Friends, as well. Over 100 residents and their children attended the event. To get a glimpse of the event, go to http://www.omvna.org/.
For our upcoming Ice Cream Social, at Mercy-Bush Park, Gelato Classico Italian Ice Cream in downtown Mountain View is providing ice cream coupons for our raffle. If that wasn’t enough, Gelato is also providing gift coupons for all of our newsletter distributors. Vaso Azzurro, at 108 Castro Street, is also providing a dinner for two to be raffled off.
Baskin-Robbins owner, John McAlister, is again giving us very low cost ice cream for our Ice Cream Social, as he did for our Eagle Park affair.
