Officers Attending: Ken Rosenberg, Meridith Segall, Aaron Grossman, Jamil Shaikh, Kim Copher, Margaret Abe-Koga

Officers Not Attending: Nikol Jackson

Neighbors Present: Bruce Karney, Julie Lovins, Ronit Bryant, Kristen McGuire-Husky, Paul Goldstein, and Noam Livnat

7:35pm meeting was called to order

Minutes:

  • Minutes for November were approved with changes

 

Treasurer’s Report:


OMVNA: $7,350.89 

CERT: $61.18

Total: $7,412.07

CERT Report:

  • Jamil coordinated last radio check and it went very well.

 

Downtown Report:

  • There will be another downtown meeting with Ellis soon, but one has not taken place for a few months now
  • City Council voted in favor of Evelyn Site for affordable housing development.
  • Downtown community Bylaws must be changed by city council. There are allotted positions for the downtown commission but they are not clearly defined for someone who is interested in applying. Ken Rosenberg recently made it to the interview stage when he found out that he could not apply for the position.

Old Business:

  • Steering Committee voted unanimously to pay the church $200 for services rendered (rental of site for candidate forum) accompanied by a letter stating that the donation was made in lieu of an invoice for the use of the church meeting room.

New Business:      

  • Transfer of duties will take place at the end of December. Exiting steering committee members will be taken off of the SC groups list and incoming members have been added. Meridith will hand over last minutes for December to Kristen McGuire-Husky for approval and November minutes will be corrected and sent to new web-master. Vice Chair will take over agenda responsibilities.
  • Larry Stone, Santa Clara count tax assessor, will be the first speaker for the new year
  • Bruce will get quotes for cost of a 6-8 page newsletter with insertion done by the printer.
  • Steering Committee voted unanimously to raise ad rates by 20% starting next year see chart below. Any current advertisers will not be affected until next year.
  • Steering Committee voted yes to continue the Diamond ad in the newsletter. Also decided to attempt to increase the number of ads sold in the newsletter by increasing the size of the newsletter depending on the number of ads sold.
  • Bruce Karney gave the following scenarios for possible newsletter expansion:
