Restaurant Scene: August 2013

Downtown MV restaurant changes. “Park Balluchi Indian Restaurant and Bar” is under construction at 288 Castro (formerly Temptations).

Food Street (292 Castro, closed years ago with a sewer problem) is getting vigorous construction; entry is boarded up.

Both 102 Castro (fmr. Hunan Chili) and 124 (fmr. K-Pop Korean, earlier Barracuda Sushi, under same Korean restaurateur) are now leased to people planning to open new Chinese restaurants (including a “very new” concept at 102), according to a Generally Reliable Industry Source.

Peet’s Coffee is moving downtown (from 1030 Castro near Rose Market) to the former Scientology office site.
