Did you know that a plasma TV can use as much energy as your refrigerator? Or that changing a showerhead can save over $140 per year in natural gas costs?
Now is the perfect time to get smart about energy use. Electricity rates just went up again, and natural gas prices are expected to average 18% higher than last winter. On October 30th, Kate Latham of HomeZ will present a free interactive workshop on home energy efficiency for our neighborhood. At this event you will find out how you can save with simple habit changes and handyman fixes. You’ll also learn the pros and cons of various home improvements and how you can be more comfortable in your home while saving energy. The workshop starts with an easy quiz to get a snapshot of your home’s savings opportunities, and includes case studies of homes in our area. There will a chance for Q&A and for chatting with your neighbors.
The workshop will be from 7-8:30 PM, Thursday October 30 at the HomeZ office, 821 W. El Camino Real, (just off Castro Street). It’s an easy stroll from Old Mountain View. Think about walking over with your neighbors, for more community spirit and less carbon emissions!
