Mountain
View's Planning Process
On April 23, 2002, the Mountain View City Council adopted an interum
urgency ordinance for the preservation of 94 identified historic structures
within the city. The list was created by combining previous inventories,
including buildings listed in the book "Now & Then- Exploring
Mountain View's Architectural Heritage."
This ordinance requires a historic preservation permit granted by
the City Council if a property owner proposes to remodel, significantly
alter, or demolish a listed historic resouce. The city has put together
a comprehensive guide that outlines in detail the planning process
for listed properties. Most questions regarding the ordinance and
the inventory can be found within the guide.
